K'HAKE HALF - 21.1 km
Brought to you by Diamonds on Seddon in Waihi
K'HAKE HALF COURSE DESCRIPTION
The Half Marathon is a classic, and it’s a great course to set your off-road PB.
Run or walk from Paeroa to Waihi on the most scenic and varied section of the Hauraki Rail Trail. The course runs alongside the Ohinemuri River, crossing bridges and passing through a one km long train tunnel in the spectacular Karangahake Gorge. You’ll soon arrive at the halfway point at Victoria Battery, Waikino then follow the beautiful river-side trail all the way upstream to the finish line at Waihi Station.
The course only rises 100 m over its entire length, with the first half being essentially flat and the second half a bit more rolling with a couple of short pinches to challenge your average pace.
COURSE MEASUREMENT
The Half Marathon course has been measured in accordance with the accepted measurement standards of AIMS and the IAAF and is supported by the NZ 100 Marathon Club.
Note: Your gps may produce a different result due to passing through the narrow Karangahake Gorge and other built-in gps inaccuracies.
